A strong freshman with even stronger bloodlines, Luke Olsen is looking to leave his mark on the program, starting with a great freshman campaign. We caught up with the freshman just as the season was getting started.
VYPE: What do you love most about your team and teammates at Bartlesville?
Olsen: A team is like your second family. You endure grueling practices together, you get to know them like brothers and sisters, and you experience their ups and downs with them. Just like a regular family, you may not get along some days, but in the end, you care about them, not just their swim career, but also where they end up in life.
VYPE: What is your favorite subject in school and who is your favorite teacher?
Olsen: My favorite subject is biology with Mrs. Fentress. I find it fascinating to learn how our world and bodies work.
VYPE: Who has been a big influence in your life?
Olsen: A major influence in my life is my friends. People underestimate just how impactful and meaningful friends are. It can be seen as both a good and a bad thing, in my case it’s a good thing. My friends are always exposing my weaknesses and although they might not realize it, they make me stronger.
