Bartlesville’s Mom of the Month Cory Snelson – Presented by Sparklight

Bartlesville’s Cory Snelson

Former Skiatook High School graduate Cory Snelson now calls Bartlesville home and is our featured Mom of the Month.

A mother of two, Snelson is involved in her kid’s activities from Jaxton who is in the seventh grade and participates in wrestling, tennis, and football to Brantley who wrestles and plays football and soccer. Being a volunteer comes naturally for Snelson.

“I just help where needed. I currently help with creating sign ups, fundraisers, and communication with parents. We are trying to build up the program by having funding for everything we need for a successful wrestling program,” Snelson said. “I love giving my time towards organizations that are doing good for our community. I also like being an example for my boys in hopes they follow in my footsteps as a volunteer in their future.

Snelson feels it’s important for parent to get involved in your student-athlete’s activities.

“It is a must to have parents involved in their kid’s activities if possible. I wouldn’t know half of the obstacles that the programs come across if I wasn’t involved. It takes an army to raise kids and the same goes for running a program. We always need creative ways to keep a program going and that’s where new fresh ideas from parents come in,” said Snelson.

For the Snelson family the Bartlesville Public School district was the right place for their family.

“My family moved from Owasso before our kids started school to specifically go to Bartlesville schools. My husband is a Bartlesville alumnus and after reading test scores and reviews on Bartlesville it was an easy choice. I feel comfortable having a conversation with any of the staff, superintendent, principals, or anyone involved in Bartlesville Public Schools and that is extremely important to me,” said Snelson.

In her free time, Snelson said she enjoys staying busy or just reading a book.

“I love reading a good book, volunteering, planning events, shopping for a deal, playing a good board game, camping, or watching either kiddo play any sport they are doing,” said Snelson.
