BARTLESVILLE BRUINS
Coach: ANDREW BLAIN
24-12
OUTLOOK
While other teams are outside competing in every other fall sport, volleyball is back in the gym preparing for the upcoming season. Coach Andrew Blain and the Lady Bruins are poised for a big season with several returning players that bring experience and athleticism to the court. “We have a very experienced team with 15 upperclassmen and 12 returning varsity players. This group is led by a trio of attacking seniors Emry Brown, Marissa Demuth, and Rya Christensen. The experience of the group is very high, and we are very excited to see where it can take us,” said Blain.
Emry Brown (Sr.) is an outside hitter and someone who can climb the ladder and find openings in the defense. Brown could lead the team this season in attempts and kills. She is a dynamic leader and outstanding player that will push for post season All-State honors.
Marissa Demuth (Sr.) and Rya Christensen (Sr.) will both play the middle giving the Bruins two players capable of making big plays on offense and defense. Demuth is a big part of the offense and will put up a ton of blocks this season. Her ability to score points will be a huge factor for the Lady Bruins. Christensen is an unselfish player that works incredibly hard for her teammates. Always a positive influence, Christensen raises everyone up and makes the team better with her presence.
Other seniors on the team include Hayden Brandon (S, Sr.), Mads Hyde (DS, Sr.), and Camille Elkan (OH, Sr.). Also look for juniors Sophie Frye (DS, Jr.), Riata Peck (RS, Jr.), Cera Federico (RS, Jr.), Avery Matney (MH, Jr.), Ellie Benson (OH, Jr.), Emma Parsley (S, Jr.), Ava Smith (DS, Jr.) and Rylann O’Bannion (DS, Jr).
Sophomore Claire Barta is expected to contribute this season at setter. Overall the team looks strong as coach Blain and the Lady Bruins take on a tough schedule again this season.
