The Bartlesville Lady Bruins are looking to fly under the radar and surprise some people this year after a disappointing season a year ago. “We have young, talented, and skilled players,” head coach Justyn Shaw said. “We’re small in size, but possess speed and shooting ability. We’re looking forward to an exciting season.” K.K. Duncan leads the way as a three year varsity letterman and two year starter. Duncan is a great perimeter player who shoots the ball well from deep. She is a leader and team captain and has been improving every aspect of her game – especially on defense and ball handling – and coaches expect a big season of production from Duncan this winter.
Kenzie Denny is a great ball handler with supreme court vision and always makes the right pass. While Denny is only a freshman she has already started turning heads in workouts and coaches are excited to see what this youngster can bring to the Lady Bruins over the next several years. “If you didn’t know who Kenzie Denny was… you will,” said coach Shaw.
Alayah Lunn shoots well from the perimeter but is also great at driving the ball to the basket. Lunn saw some minutes on the varsity squad as a freshman and is expected to play a bigger role this season. Going into her sophomore year coaches predict to see a big leap in production from Lunn. Also look for Grace McPhail who is a quiet leader and solid defender. She is described as a floor general who sets the tone on offense and has the ability to finish at the rim. McPhail started multiple games at point guard last year and will look to be one of the leaders again in the backcourt this season.
