Senior Shoutout with Kent Girard – Presented by RibCrib

Bartlesville Bruin Kent Girard took a few moments away from his day to answer a few questions about his team, his favorite teacher and what he hopes to accomplish once his playing days at Bartlesville High School are over.

VYPE: Kent, what do you love most about your team and teammates?

Girard: I now get to play on a team that wins. They give effort most importantly. They desire to win and are willing to put everything aside to win.

VYPE: Do you have a favorite teacher?
Girard:
Definitely my eleventh grade teacher Mr. Schnexnayder. He always taught us to think. Don’t believe what you believe just because that’s how they raised you. Seek the truth first and foremost even if it causes waves or rocks the boat. And that the truth can only be found in God’s word.

VYPE: What are your plans after you graduate?
Girard:
To attend an undergraduate and achieve a bachelor’s in political science and minor in history. From there move on to law school and work towards my Juris Doctorate degree.

VYPE: What’s been your favorite memory in high school so far?

Girard: I would have to say so far, my favorite memory is a dinner me and my homeschool senior class was able to attend by ourselves after the year had concluded. It was a special moment knowing how far we had come and the hard work necessary to complete the program and graduate from CC (Classical Conversations).

VYPE: What does success look like for this graduating class after high school?
Girard:
Success means something different for every person. I would say that multiple people will probably be successful from my homeschool class if not all of them. If they achieve the dream they had set by their own standard I count them as successful no matter what society says.

VYPE: Here is your chance to give your own shoutout to whomever you wish.
Girard:
I would like to give a shoutout to my parents for the hoops they jumped through to get me into public school and the sacrifices they made during my homeschool years.
My coaches from back in Tyro, Kansas, and coach Phillips to WACHA and coach Casey to now at Bartlesville High School for granting my opportunities. Bartlesville High School coach Clent. Lastly, I want to thank God for my ability to play the game I love in the first place. I wouldn’t be anywhere without him and there were many times I didn’t think that academic transfers or other things of the like would work out, but he orchestrated things perfectly.
