Coach: Clent Stewart
20-21 Record: 6-15
Coming into the new season, head coach Clent Stewart likes what he sees from his lineup which returns nearly every starter from a season ago. “Only lost one starter from last years team,” said Stewart. “Lead by sophomore David Castillo who is a top 15 2024 player and recently won a gold medal with U16 Team USA. Other starters back from last year are guards Jordan Carter and Aadhi Ayyappan who can both score the ball outside and in the mid-range. Last returning starter is 6-foot-6 Nick Smith who runs the floor and uses his size to alter shots at the rim. Young team mixed with veterans including several transfers that will have a bit impact this season.” David Castillo (6-2, So.) averaged 23.4 points per game with 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists during his freshmen season. He is one of the more productive players in the class. Jordan Carter (6-1, Sr.) is a respected leader and can average 10 points a game. Aadhi Ayyappan (6-0, Jr.) starts at shooting guard and is another double-digit scorer. Kent Girard (6-3, Sr.) is a transfer and is expected to make an immediate impact. Nick Smith (6-6, Sr.) is the big man at forward who sets the tone on defense but is a threat offensively as well. Dayton McCall (6-0, Jr.) is the glue. McCall is all hustle and effort and never takes a break on the court. DaRon Davis (5-1, Jr.) transferred from Caney Valley where he averaged 16 points a game as a sophomore. Also look for Riley Duong to work his way onto the floor for the Bruins.
