Coach: Justyn Shaw
20-21 Record: 3-15
Head coach Justyn Shaw is still getting his system implemented at Bartlesville, but things are looking up and with the return of a few players with experience, the learning curve is not as steep as it was a year ago. “This team has depth at the wing position,” said coach Shaw. “We are looking to play aggressive, fast, and with pace.” One player who returns this season is T’Keitha Valentine (5-5, Sr.) who has the handles to play guard and the quickness to get to the basket. Valentine will also look for players like Maider Ruiz (5-9, So.) who joins the team from her home country of Spain. Ruiz is a great passer, and she runs the floor well. She has a great feel for the game and can finish at the rim with either hand. Kaelynn Duncan (5-8, Jr.) has a good three-point shot and returns as a starter with good experience. Kate Gronigan (5-10, Sr.) started last season and is what coach Shaw calls a complete player. She is a two-level scorer and plays great defense. Payten Pregler (5-7, So.) is an aggressive defender and athletic wing, while Jaiden Stevenson (5-9, Sr.) is a strong post player who can hit mid-range jumpers. Mikka Chambers (5-9, So.) and Kadance Barnett (5-9, Fr.) are two athletic players with excellent defense who move well with or without the ball. Also look for Grace McPhail who pushes her teammates in practice and makes everyone around her better.
