McKenzie Cummings, four-year starting midfielder for the Bartlesville Lady Bruins, not only plays an important role on her soccer team, but also in her school and community. Cummings is a part of many different school activities, including student council, Spanish Club, BHS Bru Crew, and Interact Club.
Soccer has played a major role in making Cummings who she is today.
“Soccer has definitely taught me that with hard work, anything can be accomplished. You may not have the fastest team, or the best team, but if everyone battles and comes together to do their part then great things can happen.”
Cummings has had a great support system throughout her time playing soccer.
“My biggest supporters are my family and friends. They are always rooting for me, cheering me on, and picking me up when I’m down,” said Cummings.
Cummings finds great support within her family and she looks up to her mom more than anyone else for her incredible work ethic and determination.
“My biggest role model is my mom,” said Cummings. “She has worked hard and got to where she is today basically by herself.”
When Cummings isn’t on the field, she devotes herself to helping others and spending quality time with her loved ones.
“When I am not playing soccer, you can find me at our local hospital. When I’m not working, I like to be with friends and go on adventures outside. Of course, if the opportunity to travel and go see/experience something new arises, I’m all ears.”
Along with having a job, being an accomplished athlete, teammate, student, and club member, Cummings has even bigger goals for her future.
“After I graduate, I plan on attending Oklahoma State University for pre-med and participating in their freshman research program. Ultimately I want to minor in Spanish in hopes I may be able to study abroad and do medical school in another country.”
