Bartlesville Captains Q&A with Brianna Mumma and Samantha Simmons – Presented by Tulsa Bone & Joint

VYPE: How long have you been involved in cheer?

Mumma: I’ve been cheering for eight years.

Simmons: Six years of school cheer 10 total.

VYPE: What do you love most about your team and teammates on the cheer squad?

Mumma: I love the resilience of my squad. We’ve had so many things thrown at us throughout the years and every single time I’m amazed by how quickly we bounce back and grow closer.

Simmons: I love the fun environment and relationships that I have with my teammates and I cherish the memories we have created. Additionally, I love cheering for the Bruins!

VYPE: Are you involved in any other activities in or away from school?

Mumma: I’m involved in our internship program at our school. This allows me to do a two-hour internship at Madison Middle School in math classrooms.

Simmons: I am involved with cheerleading, tennis, student council, NHS, and Spanish club.

VYPE: Who on the squad keeps everyone laughing? Who can sleep anywhere? Who has the best impression of coach?

Mumma: Ashlynn definitely always keeps us laughing. That girl always has something to say and her laugh just makes it a thousand times better! Sam can sleep literally anywhere.

Simmons: Ashlynn truly keeps all of us laughing 99 percent of the time with her outgoing personality and contagious laugh. I am actually the one on the team that can fall asleep nearly anywhere; for example: I would be the only person to fall asleep on the entire bus and would usually be in the most awkward position. All of us have a pretty good impression of our coach given that she’s been our coach for many years.

VYPE: Tell me one person and three things you would have with you if stranded on an island.

Mumma: If I was stranded on an island, I would want to bring my best friend Mady and three things we would bring would be a Chick-fil-A, a shower, and a tent.
