Bartlesville senior Kelsey Ward went into the 2023 volleyball season wanting to improve on her leadership qualities and just have fun in completing her career.
Ward has been an important piece for the 11th-ranked Bruins, who had an 18-9 record under head coach Jen Ward as of Sept. 19.
“My goals this season are just to finish my career with a great season. I am just trying to have fun,” Ward said. “I have started pouring in to my teammates and learned a lot about how to lead people in the way they need.”
Shot selection is one of the top strengths for the head coach’s daughter, who had 193 kills through the month of August. Her mom has been her biggest influence. “I feel like I have more shots available this year than any other year,” said Kelsey, a second team all-conference selection last season. “[My mom] is always pushing me to be my best and has been my biggest supporter.”
Kelsey, who recently was a Tri-County Tech Student of the Month and is a member of National Honor Society and NTHS, plans on attending college and majoring in Neuroscience and then wants to go into med school.
