Throughout an athlete’s career, there can be a large number of memories or exciting moments that happen that become important to them. Whether they are personal experiences or team accomplishments, they have worked hard to enjoy these moments. Nani Takahasi plays softball for Bartlesville High School and she says her favorite memory so far happened when she was younger.

“I think the highlight moment of my career of playing softball is when my 10U competitive team won state,” she recalled. “It was my first season playing competitively and we had an amazing season with a whole new team. We should not have won that championship game but we pushed through and pulled it out. It’s one of the happiest moments of my life that I look back on a lot still to this day.”

Takahasi is a sophomore at Bartlesville. Along with playing softball, she is also a member of the Bruin Brigade marching band.

“I’m going to be the head drum major this upcoming fall for the Bruin Brigade and I am so excited,” she stated. “When not on the field conducting though, I am a percussionist and enjoy the entirety of the band a lot.”

She first started playing t-ball when she was six years old, but she says that the game did not enjoy the game as much until she was a little bit older.

“My parents were trying to find a sport for me to play,” she said. “I didn’t really get into the competitive aspect of softball until I was around eleven years old and that’s when I truly fell in love with the sport.”

As a student, Nani has learned from a lot of teachers but she says that there is one that was the most influential in her life.

“My favorite teacher is Mr. Harp who I have this year for AP World History,” she said. “He has really pushed me and my peers to create good habits for not only future AP classes we take but also for college. He creates a fun environment in the classroom but we also have gotten a lot of work done this year to get us prepared for our first AP test in May. It is one of my all-time favorite classes I’ve ever been in.”
