VYPE: What are your personal goals this year and how is the choir going?
Kessi: It sounds silly, but one of my personal goal was to make the most of this year. Sometimes I prioritize school so much that I forget to spend quality time with my friends and family. I’ve chosen to take time this year to focus on my relationships with the people who are important to me. Choir is going great! Right now, we are working on music for our Sunshine and Blue Skies Spring Fling. Our spring fling will be my last choir concert ever at BHS.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
Kessi: Last summer, I planned a surprise birthday party for one of my friends. We had a massive water fight and ended up making a slip and slide out of mud. The mud slide worked better than any other slip and slide I’ve ever seen. At that point we were cover in mud, so the water fight turned into a mud fight. It was the grossest thing, but I had SO much fun!
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?
Kessi: Mrs. Margie Green is my favorite teacher! She is my choir teacher and has had a major impact on my life the last four years. My favorite thing about Mrs. Green is her joy. Every day she has the biggest smile on her face and tries to share her joy with us. She also challenges my class to #findjoy. I love you Mrs. Green!
VYPE: What is your favorite choir memory?
Kessi: My favorite choir memory is when I got to go to New York my freshman year. We had the BEST bus driver and trip organizer! I got to visit so many cool places, see two Broadway shows (checked that off my bucket list), and make some pretty great friends!
VYPE: What choir mate or fellow student has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Kessi: Madeline is one of my friends in choir who has had a major impression on me. She brings so much laughter and positivity into my life.
VYPE: Who on your team has the best impression of your choir teacher and who says the funniest things during concerts?
Kessi: For sure, Samarah! She is so funny! She doesn’t impersonate our teachers often, but when she does, I’m on the floor laughing. When it is time for a concert, my entire class starts cracking jokes. I don’t know if it’s to get our nerves out or what, but the memories I have from being backstage with Jazz are like none other.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?
Kessi: It sounds kind of cheesy, but I want to go to Disney World so bad! I am a huge Disney fan, and the idea of Disney themed everything along with roller coasters sounds like the time of my life. I would take my parents and my best friends Anna and Liz because I love them all and none of us have gone before.
VYPE: If we gave you 500 dollars and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, how would you spend it?
Kessi: If I had 500 dollars to spend right now, I would probably buy stuff that I will need for college and my dorm room. I only have a few months till I move, and the list of things to buy keeps getting longer.
VYPE: Here is your chance to say hello, goodbye or thank you to anyone you wish.
Kessi: Look Mom and Dad, I made it. I am so thankful for my family and friends who have walked by my side the last eighteen years. I wouldn’t be the person I am without you. I love you all so much!
