Madeline: This show season, my main goal was to learn as much as possible and step outside my comfort zone more. So far, I am four productions and three choir concerts into our show season, and it couldn’t be going any better!
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
Madeline: I am having the most fun right now as a Stage Manager on our Spring Musical, Mamma Mia! I love getting the chance to work this close with my choir directors and friends on such a fun show!
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade or coach and why?
Madeline: The wonderful Mrs. Margie Green is the best teacher, director, and mentor I could ever ask for! She has helped me through all of high school and helped me grow as a performer, a student, and a leader. Thank you, Mrs. Green, you’re truly the best ever!
VYPE: What is your favorite theater memory?
Madeline: There have been so many good memories made, too many to choose from!
Working with my cousin, Brad Gray- a Broadway Lighting Programmer, on Into the Woods last year was a blast. Between learning so much and getting to work with him and friends, I couldn’t ask for much else!
VYPE: What classmate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Madeline: My good friend and former classmate, Lynn Shambles, left a huge impact on my life. She was my “mentor” as I entered the technical theater world and really just taught me about everything I needed to know. She is also one of the kindest and funniest people I know.
VYPE: Who in the department has the best impression of your choir or theater teacher and who says the funniest things during performances?
Madeline: My co-stage manager, Kyra White, and I love to do impressions of our directors and I have to say, we’re pretty good at it. Kyra is always the person who makes me laugh the most backstage or over headset. Even through all the seriousness of shows, there are always jokes shared between us.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?
Madeline: I would love to take a trip back to New York City to explore and see Broadway shows! I think I would take my best friends with me- who wouldn’t love to explore the city with them!
VYPE: If we gave you 500 dollars and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, how would you spend it?
Madeline: Anyone who knows me would say I would spend it all on new pairs of shoes… which is probably accurate!
VYPE: Here is your chance to say hello, goodbye, or thank you to anyone you wish. Madeline: First, I would like to thank my amazing parents and my coach, Terry Hughes, for supporting me and my decisions most while transitioning into the fine arts world. Secondly, the biggest thank you to them, all of my choir directors, Mrs. Allis Roddy, Seth Weimer, and the lovely ladies at Children’s Musical Theatre of Bartlesville for helping me in my journeys over the last four years! I couldn’t have done it without all of you guy
