For Bartlesville High School freshman Kennedy Price, joining the Lady Bruins varsity fastpitch softball program has meant taking on new competition while finding a supportive group of teammates.

Price came into the season eager for the opportunity to test herself at the high school level.

“I was looking forward to being a part of the program and competing at a higher level,” Price said.

A versatile defensive player, Price has worked at several spots on the field, though first base has become her primary position. Her willingness to continue learning has helped shape her approach to the game.

“I have played a few positions but primarily first base. I enjoy being around my teammates the most,” Price said.

The adjustment to varsity softball has been made easier by the welcome she has received from the program’s older players. Price values the chemistry that has formed among the Lady Bruins.

“I am very thankful for how the upperclassmen have welcomed me into the program. I love how much fun we all have together and how close we are,” Price said.

Price said defense is a personal strength, but she continues to devote time to improving every part of her game.

“My strength is defensive. I have worked hard to learn new positions and how to improve my hitting,” Price said.

Her development has also been influenced by coaches and teammates from junior high and competitive softball. She specifically credits longtime competitive teammates Aubree Bellar and Hadlee Jefferson for the impact they have made.

“Aubree Bellar and Hadlee Jefferson left an impression on me. They have been my longest competitive teammates, and we have always been really close,” Price said.

Away from softball, Price also plays basketball and attends FCA. Her long-term goals include continuing athletics beyond high school while pursuing a career in health care.

“I would like to play a sport in college and become a physical therapist,” Price said.
