Bartlesville High School sophomore Aisley Keirsey is embracing the challenge of varsity volleyball while bringing energy, determination and a team-first mindset to the Lady Bruins.
A middle blocker for Bartlesville, Keirsey values the relationships forming within the program as much as the competition on the court.
“I love how close we have gotten in such a short amount of time,” Keirsey said.
That connection has helped make the transition and daily work of a volleyball season meaningful. Whether the Lady Bruins are practicing fundamentals, preparing for an opponent or competing in a match, Keirsey enjoys the atmosphere created by her teammates.
“I am a Middle Blocker, and I enjoy all of the jokes we share with each other. The strength of my game is my energy and determination and I’m trying to work on having a faster arm swing,” she said.
Keirsey’s focus on improvement reflects her approach to the sport. She recognizes that growth comes from consistently refining skills, and she is motivated by the opportunity to develop during her sophomore season.
“I’m most excited about getting better as a player and working on my technique,” Keirsey said.

The Lady Bruins are also guided by a new coach who has already made an impression on Keirsey. She sees an example in Coach Jill’s balance of care for players and commitment to competing.
“Our new coach, Coach Jilll inspires me because she is such a caring person yet when she steps on the court, she is the most determined person you’ll meet,” Keirsey said.
Volleyball is not Keirsey’s only athletic interest. She has spent years competing in golf while also building experience through club volleyball, giving her a background in both individual and team sports.
“I’ve played golf for eight years and I’ve played club volleyball for five years,” she said.
Keirsey also appreciates the perspective shared by Emma Parsley, who has reminded her to keep the game in its proper place.
“Emma Parsley has taught me that volleyball doesn’t define who you are and to just have fun,” Keirsey said.
That outlook extends beyond athletics. After high school, Keirsey is considering a future in a field that would allow her to help others.
“I would like to be a physical therapist or sports psychologist,” she said.
For now, Keirsey is committed to maximizing her time with the Lady Bruins.
“I’ve learned to just enjoy every moment because I won’t be playing volleyball forever,” Keirsey said.
