Bartlesville’s Shalynn Conley – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Career Employment Service

Bartlesville High School sophomore Shalynn Conley is already carving out her identity as a varsity athlete, driven by resilience, teamwork and a strong sense of perspective.

Conley, who will be a sophomore this upcoming school year, said one of her biggest influences has been her coach.

“Coach C inspires me because she taught me to get over my mistakes fast,” Conley said.

That mindset has shaped how Conley approaches both competition and personal growth.

She emphasized that athletics has helped her develop a lasting life lesson.

“Mistakes don’t define you — they refine you,” she said.

Conley brings that philosophy to the court, where she values her teammates as much as her own development. She said the relationships she has built are what she cherishes most.

“The thing I enjoy most about being on the team is the friendships that will last forever,” she said.

Her teammates play distinct roles in shaping the team’s energy. Conley pointed to Lyndee as the most vocal presence and Aisley as the one who keeps everyone laughing. She also highlighted Molly as the player who consistently sacrifices her body for the team.

“Molly is always going to the floor,” Conley said.

Conley said she appreciates how her teammates support her during difficult moments.

“The thing I love most about my teammates is that they always know how to cheer me up when I get down,” she said.

On the court, Conley prefers a more aggressive approach to serving.

“I prefer jump serve because I feel I have more variation of what I can do with it,” she said.

Interestingly, Conley does not focus on a specific gym as being the toughest environment.

“I don’t see the gym as tough to play in, but the opponent,” she said.

Off the court, Conley enjoys spending time with her family. In the classroom, she favors English and fondly remembers her first-grade teacher.

“My favorite subject is English, and my favorite teacher is Mrs. Frye from first grade,” she said.

With a team-first mindset and a focus on growth, Conley continues to develop into a well-rounded athlete prepared for the challenges ahead.
