VYPE: What goals did you have for this baseball season?
Hunter Shea: My goals for this year’s baseball season are to lead the team to hosting a regional in Bartlesville giving us a good chance to win and go to a state tournament.
VYPE: What has baseball taught you that you use in your daily life?
HS: Baseball has taught me the value of failure and without it there would be no growth or improvement in life.
VYPE: What’s your favorite part of being involved in baseball?
HS: My favorite part of baseball is practicing and playing with the guys that I’ve been friends with since I started playing the game in a way that without baseball I wouldn’t have made these lifelong friends.
VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
HS: Someone who inspires me the most is my grandfather, Mike, because of how hard he works for our family and does his best for us to be comfortable and happy rather than himself.
VYPE: What do you think is the biggest challenge in baseball?
HS: The biggest challenge in baseball is the mental approach to the game and how complex it gets when thinking about how to play.
VYPE: What do you think makes a great baseball player?
HS: I think the key to a great baseball player is having the confidence in their game at all times, no matter if they’re playing good or bad.
VYPE: Who in your family is the best athlete? Explain.
HS: As of right now I believe I am the best athlete in the family, but my younger brother Luke has a good possibility to be a very good player someday.
VYPE: What’s one sport you wish you could play that you don’t already play?
HS: A sport that I wish I could play would be golf. I’ve been told I’m pretty good for only having played recreational golf and I just started about a year ago. I think if baseball and golf didn’t have conflicting schedules I would try and play both sports.
VYPE: What’s your go-to pregame song?
HS: My go-to pregame song would have to be – “Dear Rodeo” by Cody Johnson because it reminds me that someday I will play my last baseball game whether it be today or years down the road, the song reminds me to play like today is the last time I’ll ever get to put the jersey on my back.
