Throughout an athlete’s career, no matter how long or how short it is, there are moments that stay with them forever. Whether these are personal moments or team accomplishments, there are moments that are engrained in the athlete’s mind. Bartlesville’s Jordan Carter says that there is one memory that will say will stay with him.
“I would have to say that my first varsity start last year as a junior is my highlight moment,” he said. “I had a rush of emotions before that game. From not getting much playing time freshman year and then battling injuries my sophomore year, I’ve just enjoyed the opportunity I had to come back better and stronger.”
Carter is a junior at Bartlesville high school and is a member of the Bruin’s basketball team. He picked up his first basketball when he was two years old and he has not put it down since. He currently plays guard on the team.
Over the span of his career, Jordan has had a few people that have had an impact on his life, both athletically and as a person.
“My mom is the biggest role model for me,” Carter said. “She taught me to chase after my dreams and that anything is possible if you put your mind to it. Another person that has influenced my life is my coach, Clent Stewart. He has taught me that every day matters. Life is short so you have to make the most out of every day. And to always try to make a positive impact on others.”
There is a lot that goes into becoming an outstanding athlete. Jordan says that there are two things that have helped him.
“Time and dedication,” he stated. “Thousands of hours in the gym working on my game and having the want-to to be the best version of myself.”
Along with playing sports, Carter is also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
