Bartlesville’s Tag-hee Crowels

Wrestling is the toughest sport in prep athletics. The conditioning, the training and the level of competition is always at a high level in Oklahoma. Never mind, it’s a one-versus-one match with no teammates to lean on when your weight is up.

For Bartlesville High School’s Tag-hee Crowels, working on his skill set and conditioning his body for the long season is the focus heading into the new season.

“I think I worked on technique more than anything I have been doing everything I can to get better and hopefully all the work pays out,” Crowels said.

Now in his sophomore season, Crowels has called the mat home for several years. During his junior high years, Crowels enjoyed some success against some great talent.

“My most memorable moment was winning third in junior high at Wagoner because I wrestled really good,” Crowels said.

Crowels loves being part of the team at BHS and said his teammates and his father inspire him.

“I love that we are like brothers and we all bond together well. The teammate that’s made a big impact since day one is Easton Peace. Noah Ramirez is the most vocal and Jordin Goss is the teammate that makes everyone laugh even though he doesn’t do all his reps,” said Crowels. “My dad inspires me because he does everything for our family, and he never stops going even though he’s old and gets cramps.”

Known for being tough when he’s in the top position, Crowels continues to develop into a solid wrestler in the neutral position as well. He takes the wrestlers mentality into the classroom where his favorite subject is math.

“My favorite subject in school is math because once I understand it and I can do it. It’s fun and my favorite teacher is my 8th grade history teacher Mr. Massey.”

Away from school, Crowels said his favorite thing to do is go fishing.

“I enjoy fishing in my free time and going to my friend Ulises house,” Crowels said.
